The swarmBOX

The self-learning control box - control technology rethought!

Self-learning, technology-neutral and flexible - these are the key features of our swarmBOX. With this in-house development in hardware and software, we have rethought control technology. Based on the system-architectural approach of decentralized intelligence, the swarmBOX is more than just a control box: it is used for data collection, processing and abstraction, enabling it to integrate your energy systems into the higher- level swarmHUB in a way that is open to all technologies.

FAQ

The in-house developed swarmBOX was developed on the basis of findings from a multi-year research project. Let us convince you of its versatility.

The swarmBOX has been designed for a wide range of applications in terms of both hardware and software. These include:

  • remote control connections of EEG plants, especially post-EEG plants
  • Monitoring of renewable energy systems and properties
  • Energy management in properties by utilizing the flexibility of energy systems

A clever hardware concept enables minimal installation effort. The core features are:

  • 230 V AC or 24 V DC supply without installation of additional power supply units
  • manageable switch with 3 Ethernet ports, which separates networks and ensures a high level of IT security
  • an internal UPS protects hardware against short-term power interruptions
  • a watchdog ensures fault-free operation
  • designed as a stand-alone unit - can be installed without an additional control cabinet

The swarmBOX offers the option of expanding the range of digital, analog and serial interfaces as required and thus adapting them to individual requirements. The swarmBOX can be equipped with up to 6 interface modules in total. Available are:

  • relay contacts (changeover contact)
  • digital input, S0 interface / digital output
  • analog input 0-10V, 0-20mA / analog output 0-10V, 0-20mA
  • RS 485 / RS 232 / M-Bus / 1-Wire
  • supply voltage module (galvanically isolated) 24V DC, 5V DC

Thanks to the hardware design, the swarmBOX can be installed independently without an additional control cabinet and can therefore be easily integrated into existing buildings. The installation effort is minimal.

How an energy system is connected depends on its specific type. Using the basic communication protocols available, we implement new or use existing device specifications. The swarmBOX already supports a wide range of energy systems, parking controllers and energy management systems. If the basic protocols for communication with the energy system are already available, the device specification can be provided in a short time.

Available basic protocols are: IEC 60870-5-104, SOAP, OPC XML-DA, REST-API, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU
